WELCOME

TO

From Pastor Gerry...

Welcome to our website! At His Church, you can expect a welcoming family dedicated to worship and spiritual growth through His word. We pray that if you're seeking a church family, God will guide you to the place where you belong. If that place is here with us, we can't wait to meet and worship with you!

We at His Church believe the church holds a central and vital role in the life of a believer. The church is not just a building or a place to gather for worship, but it is a community of believers who come together to grow in their faith, support one another, and carry out the mission of spreading the Gospel.

One of the primary reasons why church is important is that it provides a place for believers to come together for worship and fellowship. In the book of Hebrews, the author encourages believers to not neglect meeting together, but to encourage one another and build each other up in faith (Hebrews 10:25). By gathering together in a church setting, believers are able to worship God corporately, study the Bible, and support one another in their spiritual journey.

Additionally, the church provides a place for believers to receive teaching and guidance from qualified leaders. In Ephesians 4:11-12, Paul writes that God has given the church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. These leaders are responsible for shepherding the flock, teaching sound doctrine, and providing spiritual guidance to help believers grow in their faith.

Furthermore, the church serves as a place for believers to engage in acts of service and outreach to the community. James 1:27 tells us that true religion is caring for orphans and widows in their distress, and a biblical church provides opportunities for believers to serve those in need and share the love of Christ with others.

Finally, the church provides accountability and support for believers in their walk with Christ. In Galatians 6:1-2, Paul instructs believers to restore those who have fallen into sin and to bear one another's burdens. By being part of a church community, believers can hold each other accountable, offer encouragement and support, and help one another stay on the path of righteousness.

We at His Church place a high priority on the preaching and teaching of the Word of God. We believe Expository preaching  is vital for fostering a biblically grounded community, promoting spiritual growth, and ensuring that the teachings are faithful to the message of Scripture. It helps create a culture of learning, understanding, and applying God’s Word in all areas of life.

Why Expository?

1. Commitment to Biblical Authority: Expository preaching reflects a commitment to the authority of Scripture. It emphasizes that the Bible is the ultimate source of truth and guidance for faith and practice, ensuring that the teachings align with God’s Word.

2. Deepening Understanding: Expository preaching allows the congregation to engage deeply with the text of Scripture. By systematically working through passages, members can gain a richer understanding of biblical themes, characters, and teachings, fostering a more profound faith.

3. Spiritual Growth: This method encourages spiritual growth among congregants. As they hear the Word explained and applied, they are challenged to grow in their relationship with God and to live out their faith in practical ways.

4. Contextual Relevance: Expository preaching helps the church address contemporary issues through the lens of Scripture. By understanding the context of biblical passages, the church can apply timeless truths to modern life, making the teachings relevant and applicable.

5. Unity in Teaching: Preaching through books of the Bible promotes unity in the church’s teaching. It ensures that all members are exposed to the same Scripture, fostering a shared understanding and common ground in faith.

6. Encouragement of Personal Study: Expository preaching encourages congregants to engage with the Bible on their own. As they hear the Word preached, they are motivated to read and study the Scriptures themselves, leading to increased biblical literacy and personal growth.

7. Protection from Misinterpretation: By focusing on the text and its context, expository preaching helps guard against misinterpretation and the spread of false teachings. It encourages a careful and thoughtful approach to understanding Scripture.

8. Discipleship: This approach to preaching supports discipleship, addressing various aspects of life and faith. It helps congregants see how all of Scripture is interconnected and relevant to their daily lives.
